Part 1: The Artist

In the late 1990s, a musician named Brian Burton began releasing music under the name Danger Mouse. He had been born north of New York City in the late 1970s, and grew up there and in Georgia. Throughout his twenties, Burton dabbled in various genres, producing his own trip hop, a genre defined at the time by Massive Attack, and hip hop, while also remixing other genres, including indie rock. In the early 2000s, he moved to London, where he continued to work on his music, largely unknown to a general audience.
